Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) will be hosting the men’s national squad from Sierra Leone at the Unilag Cricket Oval, Akoka, Lagos State from October 19th – 27th, 2021 for a 6-match T20I series, which will be ideal preparations for both the countries ahead of ICC qualification pathway tournaments scheduled in November 2021 in Rwanda. While Sierra Leone will be competing in the sub-regional qualifiers for a shot into the Regional finals in the first week of November, Nigeria are already part of the Regional finals based on their positions finish in the previous T20 World Cup global qualifiers held in UAE in 2019.
Nigeria have already played competitive T20I matches in 2021, when they toured Uganda in September 2021 and played with the host’s along with Kenya in a T20I Tri-nation series. Sierra Leone team however will be playing their first competitive T20I game this year, before they head to Rwanda to compete against Botswana, Cameroon, Mozambique and Tanzania for two qualification spots into the Regional finals.
All matches in the series will be live streamed by Nigeria Cricket on their YouTube channel, with umpires and match referees coming from Sierra Leone, Rwanda and Ghana to officiate in the matches.
