International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced the full schedule for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from October 16th – November 13th, 2022 in Australia, with 45 matches to be played across Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Similarly like the 2021 edition of the tournament, the first round of the World Cup will feature a six-day group stage to determine the final four teams to qualify for the Super 12. 2014 Champions Sri Lanka and Namibia will play the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at Kardinia Park, Geelong on 16th October, with UAE and Netherlands joining them in Group A from the Global qualifier tournaments held in Oman and Zimbabwe in February and July 2022 . Two-time Champions West Indies will also start in the First Round, with their first match taking place on 17th October at Bellerive Oval in Hobart against Scotland, with Zimbabwe and Ireland joining them in Group B from the Global qualifier tournaments.
All first round fixtures will be held between 16th October and 21st October, with the winner of Group A and runner-up of Group B advancing to Group 1 in the Super 12 stage, while Group B’s winners and the second-placed team from Group A heading into Group 2 in the Super 12 stage.
