The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be taking place from June 01st – 29th, 2024. A total of twenty (20) teams will be competing in the marquee event, that includes the top eight (8) teams from the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia, joined by the two host Members, West Indies and USA plus the next highest ranked teams on the MRF ICC Men’s T20 rankings table as of 14 November 2022. The remaining eight (8) spots have been decided through regional qualification process with Africa, Asia and Europe each providing two (2) qualifying teams and Americas and EAP providing one qualifying team each. This changed the qualifying pathway through Global qualifiers, which has been the norm until now for all the previous editions of the T20 World Cup.
The top two teams in each of the four (4) groups of five (5) teams will move to a Super Eight (8) phase, where the remaining sides will be split into two (2) groups of four (4) teams each. The top two (2) in each group will then make their way to the knock-out stages of the competition. The top eight (8) teams in Australia (top four in each Super 12 group) gained spots for the 2024 tournament, with Afghanistan and Bangladesh, the next best teams on the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings, also securing their spot. Teams of Nepal, Oman, Canada, Papua New Guinea, Ireland, Scotland, Namibia and Uganda qualified from their respective regional qualifiers.
