Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) have been awarded the hosting rights for the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers, and the 8-nation event will be taking place in June 2022. The tournament will see U19 Women’s teams from Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Nepal, Thailand, Bhutan and Qatar compete for the lone qualification spot into the main draw of the World Cup, which will be hosted by Cricket South Africa in 2023.
U19 team’s from Malaysia, Nepal and Thailand did play a multi-nation tournament back in November 2019, when Cricket China hosted the “One Belt, One Road” tournament, which Thailand U19 team won and Malaysia U19 team finished as runners-up. Malaysia U19 and Thailand U19 are playing couple of warm-up matches prior to the main event.
