Inaugural Women’s Japan Premier League to feature International stars

Japan Cricket Association (JCA) have announced that the inaugural edition of Women’s Japan Premier League (WJPL) will be taking place from 15th – 17th July, 2023 at the Sano International Cricket Ground, where select teams representing Eastern Waves and Western Eagles will play a three (3)-match series. National capped and domestic players of Japan will get the opportunity to play a high-profile tournament at home alongside overseas/professional players from Hong Kong, South Africa and Australia.

Other than the overseas group of six (6) players are Erika Quinn from Melbourne and Aya Kato-Stafford from Brisbane, who will also be playing for the first time in Japan and are eligible also to play for Japan National team in the near future. The others to feature in the series would be Hong Kong Internationals Kary Chan and Lemon Cheung, Jessica Adams and Erika Toguchi-Quinn from Victoria, Australia and Gandhi Jafta and Amogelang Maphangula from the Titans Cricket franchise (domestic first-class club) from South Africa. The series will add to the already existing Women’s J-BASH All-Stars, which is also one of the high-profile tournament for Women players in Japan in their domestic calendar year.
