PNG U19 Women to take part in Women’s Junior Strike League in Darwin

The ongoing partnership of PacificAus Sports with Cricket Australia (CA) and the Cricket boards of Papua New Guinea (PNG), Vanuatu and other Pacific nations have already resulted in players getting opportunities to play in Australia in grade-level cricket competitions or via Pacific nations-specific events (Pacific Islands Cricket Cup held in March 2023 in Samoa). After PNG Men’s and Women’s senior teams benefitted from the program in the last 6-12 months, it is the turn of the PNG U19 Women now, who will be competing in the CDU (Charles Darwin University) Strike League program in the Women’s Junior Strike League competition from June 26th – 30th, 2023.

With ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup becoming a part of ICC tournaments in the next commercial cycle, the exposure for U19 players from PNG would be beneficial for their development, as they would be taking part in regional qualifiers for the same. The U19 team is being trained by Justin Sternes, who has been appointed by PacificAus Sports for the team during their stay in the Northern Territory region.
