Afghanistan will play a 3-ODI series against Ireland in Sharjah in December and they are also looking to play their inaugural Test match against Zimbabwe at the same venue after the ODI series, an official said on Sunday.
“We are hosting a three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Ireland in December and there are also discussions on Afghanistan playing their inaugural Test at our ground after the ODI series,” Mazhar Khan, GM Sharjah cricket stadium, told AFP.
The three ODIs will be played on December 5th, 7th and 10th. Afghanistan will be playing their final round of ICC Intercontinental Cup match against UAE in November/December as will Ireland, who will take on Scotland in their final I-Cup fixture. Ireland have already scheduled their debut test match against Pakistan in May 2018 at their home venue.
Both Ireland and Afghanistan attained their Test status at ICC Annual meeting in June 2017 in London.
