Hong Kong beat MCC to win Plate trophy at 2017 Hong Kong Sixes

Host’s Hong Kong were crowned the Plate champions in the 2017 Hong Kong Sixes after they beat Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) by 5 wickets in the Plate final.

The 4 losing quarter-finalist’s played play-off matches for the Plate trophy.

MCC batted first and posted a healthy total of 113/1 in their 5 overs with Darren Stevens (35 off 13) and Samit Patel (33 off 10) leading the scoring in the first 4 overs and John Simpson (27 n.o off 6) providing the strong finish to the total. Hayat picked up the only wicket to fall for MCC.

Hong Kong also started strongly with Nizakat Khan (32 off 6) & Jamie Atkinson (34 off 8) doing the bulk of the opening runs and Babar Hayat (31 n.o off 10) staying till the end to finish the job in the company of Aizaz Khan (10 off 3). Hong Kong made 116/1 in only 4.2 overs to win the match and the Plate trophy by 5 wickets.
