Vanuatu’s rising star, Patrick Matautaava, who rose to prominence during the WCL Division 5 tournament in South Africa in September 2017 has got another feather in his cap as he is all set to represent Essendon CC in the T20 tournament of the Victorian Premier League in Australia.
Vanuatu, who qualified for ICC WCL Division 4 and will be travelling to Malaysia for the 6-nation event in Apr-May 2018 will be buoyed by the fact that Patrick’s opportunity with Essendon will not only help him as a player but also benefit Vanuatu cricket in their quest to develop themselves as a strong associate nation in the Asia Pacific region after the rise of Papua New Guinea from the region.
Vanuatu Cricket tweeted to congratulate Patrick on his professional cricket career start in Australia:
Congratulations @PMatautaava we are so proud of you! 🇻🇺 all your hard work, commitment, determination and sacrifice is paying off! #proud https://t.co/itZgSWfxJt
