Although the disappointment of missing out on the Global Qualifiers cannot be forgotten, Nepal women still took on the field with renewed energy to win the 3rd place play-off against Hong Kong women and finish their campaign in WWT20 Asia Qualifiers on a high.

Nepal women, put into bat first, posted 94/5 in their 20 overs. Nary Thapa (38 off 34) was the mainstay of the Nepali innings with cameo’s from Karuna Bhandari (14 n.o off 21) and Rubina Chhetri (15 n.o off 10) taking the team to their final score.

Marina Lamplough (2/11) was the pick of the bowlers for Hong Kong with Mariko Hill chipping in with 2/22.

Karuna Bhandari (3/10) rocked the Hong Kong top order to reduce them to 36/5 in the 13th over. Hong Kong batters struggled for timing and score runs with wickets kept on falling at either ends. Shabnam Rai, Sita Rana Magar, Nary Thapa & Ritu Kanoujiya picked up a wicket apiece as Hong Kong women got bowled out for 58 in 19.5 overs to lose the match by 36 runs.
