Scotland beat Kenya convincingly and qualify for ICC World Cup Qualifiers

A day of rejoice for all Scottish cricket fans as Scotland have qualified for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers by defeating Kenya convincingly by 8 wickets in the 1st match of the final round of ICC World Cricket League Championship.

Needing only a win from the 2 matches against Kenya, Scotland do not require much of a stress out as they bowled Kenya out for only 140 in 46.2 overs. Kenya were in early trouble as they got reduced to 31/3 in the 10th over.

Kenya never managed to get out of trouble as batsmen struggled to get partnerships going in the middle. Collins Obuya (26 off 50) and couple of 15’s from Nelson Odhiambo & Shem Ngoche took Kenya to their final score.

A good day for Scotland bowlers with Safyaan Sharif leading the way with 3/33 and couple of wickets for Chris Sole (2/20) with Barrington, Watt & Leask pocketing a wicket apiece.

Scotland lost Matthew Cross early in the chase but a calm and composed 87 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket between Kyle Coetzer (52 off 62) and Calum MacLeod took them closer to their target before Coetzer got out.

MacLeod (56 n.o off 75) and Ritchie Berrington (29 n.o off 21) scored the remainder of the runs in quick time as Scotland reached 145/2 in the 28th over to win the match by 8 wickets and qualify for World Cup Qualifiers in 2018.

The result have no effect on Namibia as they were already relegated to Division 2 after the conclusion of matches in round 6 in October 2017.
