Four years after losing their ODI status in New Zealand, Netherlands have won it back in Dubai in 2017. A 236-run second-wicket stand between Wesley Barresi and Ben Cooper guided Netherlands to a 8 wicket victory with 53 balls to spare at the ICC Academy Oval 2 against Namibia in the 1st WCL match in the final round of WCL Championship.

After the win, all Dutch players made it to the ICC Academy balcony to see Hong Kong secure a tense 23-run win over Papua New Guinea, that guaranteed the Dutch not only the WCL Championship title, but also the coveted #13 spot in the 13-team ODI League beginning in 2020. Today’s match results now puts Netherlands clear ahead by 4 points than PNG and 3 ahead of Scotland with one match remaining for all the countries.
