It’s time for Netherlands to rejoice now that the ICC Future Tours Program (FTP) have been formulated by members of various cricket boards in ICC’s meeting in Singapore.
Netherlands, on virtue of becoming ICC World Cricket League Championship winners, became the 13th nation to be part of ICC’s 13-team ODI league.
Netherlands will play 24 ODI’s in the 2-year cycle to try and qualify directly for 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup by finishing in the top 8 in the ODI League.
As per the FTP scheduling, here are the series Netherlands will play against to try and qualify directly for 2023 ICC World Cup in India by finishing in top 8 in the ODI League:
FY2020-2021: Netherlands vs Pakistan (Home), Netherlands vs West Indies (Home), Netherlands vs Zimbabwe (Away), Netherlands vs South Africa (Away)
FY2021-2022: Netherlands vs England (Home), Netherlands vs Ireland (Home), Netherlands vs Afghanistan (Away), Netherlands vs New Zealand (Away)
Netherlands will get a great boost in terms of hosting 12 ODI’s at home against the likes of England, Pakistan, West Indies & Ireland. The extra funding from ICC from the ODI league will benefit KNCB in a big way. Also, these being marquee matches for ICC ODI League, there surely will be arrangements done to broadcast the matches to reach audiences worldwide.
