Ireland announce 4-day game against Somerset ahead of Debut Test

Cricket Ireland have announced a 4-day practice game against English County Somerset in April before their maiden Test against Pakistan at home in Jun 2018.

The game against Somerset, scheduled for 6th – 9th Apr in Taunton, will serve as vital preparation for Ireland’s first men’s Test match against Pakistan in Malahide the following month.

Following Ireland players exit from the English County Championships as they are now classified as overseas professionals, the 4-day game will provide them the opportunity to play in the early part of English cricket season, when batting is usually tested around the seaming ball.

With Pakistan boasting of one of the most dangerous bowling line-up, Ireland players, especially batsmen will need much required match time in the middle before taking on the Pakistan bowling attack.
