Thailand Cricket to host ACC Men’s Challenger Cup 2023 in February/March

Cricket Association of Thailand (CAT) have been awarded the hosting rights for the upcoming ACC Men’s Challenger Cup 2023 from February 22nd – March 06th, 2023, which is part of the qualification pathway towards 2023 ACC Men’s Asia Cup. The competition will be played in the 50-overs format, and Men’s national teams from Bahrain, Bhutan, Maldives and Iran will be in Group A of the competition, while Men’s National teams from Myanmar, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia will be in Group B of the event.

Top two (2) teams from each of the group will advance to the knock-out stages, with the finalists advancing to the next stage of qualification in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup, which will be taking place in April 2023 (host TBD). The tournament will see the National teams of most of the participating countries making their debut in an International 50-overs competition. Indonesia Men’s team have been invited (Japan Cricket as well) by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to take part in their pathway tournaments announced for 2023-2024 cycle. The pathway program is vital for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia teams to play 50-overs cricket, as both are vying to qualify to challenge for four (4) spots into the next cycle of CWC Challenge League tournament in the Challenge League qualifier play-off tournament (venue and dates TBD), which will be the pathway event towards 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
