Malaysia Cricket to host ACC Women’s Premier Cup 2024 tournament in February

Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have awarded the hosting rights for the 2024 ACC Women’s Premier Cup tournament to Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA), with the event set to take place from February 09th – 18th, 2024 across four (4) venues in the country. MCA will be hosting Women’s National teams from Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Nepal, Hong Kong, China, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Singapore, Japan, Qatar and Maldives for the tournament, with four (4) groups of four (4) teams each will be competing against each other in a single round-robin group stage format, following which the top two (2) teams in each of the groups will advance to the quarterfinals.

The Winner and the runners-up in the Premier Cup will qualify for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024 tournament, set to take place in July (Host TBA). The four (4) semifinalists from the Premier Cup will qualify for the ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2025 tournament (Host and Dates TBA). All matches in the tournament will carry ICC team ranking points. Women’s teams of Japan and Indonesia will be taking part as special invitees, as announced by ACC in 2022 towards their pathway tournaments for 2023 and 2024. The previous edition of Women’s Asia Cup in Bangladesh saw teams from United Arab Emirates and Malaysia qualify for the tournament through the ACC Women’s T20 Championship event held in Malaysia in 2022.
