Afghanistan back on top of I-Cup standings; beat Hong Kong within 2 days

A comprehensive and dominant performance over 2 days with both bat and ball saw Afghanistan close out the Intercontinental Cup within 2 days against a clueless against spin Hong Kong.

If the first day was capped by Rashid Khan’s 5-for and Javed Ahmadi’s century, the 2nd day’s play was dominated by Asghar Stanikzai’s whirlwind knock of 125 runs in 129 deliveries. Afghanistan declared their 1st innings at 465/5 to take a 1st innings lead of 323 runs.

Then it was the turn of another spin prodigy, Zahir Khan’s turn, who bamboozled the Hong Kong batsmen picking up 4/16 and got good support from Rashid Khan as well, who added 2 more wickets to his match tally.

Hong Kong just about managed to pass their 1st innings score of 142 as they got out for 150 in the 2nd innings to lose the match by an innings & 173 runs. Afghanistan, hence, go on top of the points table of the ICC Intercontinental Cup with the final round of matches to be played in November/December in UAE.
