Bahrain men’s squad announced for T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Oman

Cricket Bahrain (CB) have announced their 14-member men’s national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Oman from February 15th – 25th, 2022. Bahrain team will be competing in the 8-nation qualifiers in a bid to secure one of the two available qualification spots into the first round of 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia, for which the groupings and the schedule has been announced.

Bahrain qualified for their maiden appearance in the Global qualifiers from the Asia sub-regional qualifiers held for Western region nations in Qatar in October 2021, edging past host’s Qatar on net run-rate after finishing on equal points at the conclusion of the single round-robin league tournament. Bahrain team will reportedly play warm-up fixtures against Philippines and Nepal, as told by Cricket Bahrain to local media ahead of the squad departure to Oman for the tournament, a country very familiar to them as they have toured earlier in 2019 and 2020 for Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Western region tournaments.

The following 14 players have been selected for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers: Sarfraz Ali (Captain), Muhammad Younis, Imran Javed, Waseeq Ahmed, Umer Imtiaz Toor, George Axtell, Shahbaz Badar, Shahi Fahim, David Mathias, Prashant Kurup, Haider Ali, Sikder Billah, Junaid Aziz Niazi, Veerapathiran Sathaiyah, Shahid Mahmood and Fiaz Ahmed
