Bangladesh shock Australia in 2017 Hong Kong Sixes

Bangladesh U-19 boys did their country proud as they beat a heavily experienced Australian side by 6 runs in the 2017 Hong Kong Sixes.

Batting first, Bangladesh managed to post 88/1 in their 5 overs against good Australian attack with Afif Hossain (34 off 11) & Mahidul Ankon (22 n.o off 9) doing bulk of the scoring.

Australia bowled well but didn’t manage to pick up more wickets with Nathan Reardon (1/16) picking up the only wicket to fall for Bangladesh.

In reply, Australia were bogged down by similar quality of bowling as Bangladesh tightened the grip, despite Hastings (32 off 10) & Reardon (26 n.o off 11) giving a good start to the innings. Afif Hossain bowled a brilliant final over giving away only 7 runs and defended the total with Australia only managing to score 82/1 in their 5 overs.

Bangladesh, thus, finish with 2 wins out of 3 matches and qualify for semi-finals along with New Zealand from the group.
