Belize and Panama register maiden T20I wins on opening day of 2019CAC

Belize and Panama registered their maiden T20I wins in the men’s category on the opening day of action in the 7th Central American Championships in Mexico City. While Belize scored their maiden win against the host’s Mexico, Panama registered theirs over Costa Rica, while all the four nations made their official T20I debut’s on the same day.

Belize took on Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in their 2nd match of the day, which they lost. All matches are being played at Reforma Athletic Club ground in Mexico City. MCC are the defending champions from the previous edition of CAC held in 2017 in Belize.

It has been a long wait for all the nations involved in the tournament as Mexico’s last International assignment was in 2018 South American Championships in Colombia, which they eventually won and Belize & Panama took part in the ICC Americas sub-regional qualifiers for 2020 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup along with USA and Canada.

Costa Rica Women’s squad will be making their T20I debut on the 2nd day of 2019CAC, as they take on Mexico Women’s squad in a 3-match series, with the host’s already having made their T20I debut in the 2018 South American Championships in Colombia.
