Benjamin Boyd’s 5-for derails ICC EAP winning streak in 50-overs competition in 2018 Toyota ACCC
ICC East Asia-Pacific men’s team winning streak in the ongoing 2018 Toyota Australian Country Championships came to a halt as they lost their 3rd round match against Victoria Country in the 50-overs competition.
ICC EAP won the toss and elected to bat first and the move back-fired on them as they got bowled out for only 87 runs in 30.3 overs. Benjamin Boyd (5/32) and Lee Stockdale (2/15) were the main wreckers-in-chief for Victoria. ICC EAP opener Jason Kila (23 off 38) was the only player able to spend some time in the middle.
With only 88 to defend, it was a tall order for the EAP bowlers but still managed to pick up 3 Vicotrian wickets as they reached 88/3 in 23.2 overs to win the contest by 7 wickets.
After ICC EAP had Victoria in a spot of bother at 29/3, Lee Stockdale (26 n.o off 47) and Cole Roscholler (29 n.o off 38) ensured there were no other wicket losses and took their team to a comfortable win and also collected bonus points to stay on top of the table.
The top 2 teams at the end of the round-robin phase will contest the final of the tournament.
