Bermuda win high scoring game against UAE Blues in Dubai

Bermuda Men’s National squad are currently in Dubai for their 6-day preparatory camp, following which they will travel to Malaysia for ICC WCL Division 4.

In their first warm-up game, Bermuda played UAE Blues in a 50-overs match and the game ended up as a high-scoring encounter, which Bermuda eventually won by 34 runs.

A 107 runs partnership between Janeiro Tucker (70 off 71) and the returning Stephen Outerbridge (83 off 101) propelled Bermuda to 294/8 in their 50 overs. The top three of Kamau Leverock (22), Terryn Fray (21) and Tre Manders (33) also got starts but will be disappointed of not continuing for more overs in the middle. Bermuda’s total was also boosted by the 30 extras conceded by UAE Blues bowlers.

Matiullah was the pick of the UAE Blues bowlers with 4/61 while Fahad Al Hashmi picked up 2/25 and Rahul Bhatia/Syed Libadah picking up a wicket apiece.

Abdul Shakoor (65 off 50) gave UAE Blues the quick start they required but his partners at the other end kept falling after facing more than 20 deliveries. Regular wickets fall meant that UAE Blues were always playing catch-up with Syed Libadah (32 off 28) and Brendon Martis (27 off 33) getting few runs down the order. What was astonishing that their entire innings got wrapped up in the 44th over for 260, still very much reachable 34 runs away from their target.

Bermuda bowlers kept pressure throughout the innings by picking up wickets as Kwasi James picked up 4/37 and was well supported by Janeiro Tucker (2/38) and Chare Smith (2/62).
