Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will be hosting the Men’s Invitational T-20 League tournament from August 08th – 15th, 2022 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The four teams, namely SLC Reds, SLC Blues, SLC Greens and SLC Greys will be competing in a single round-robin group stage format, followed by the Final on 15th August between the top two teams in the points table.
The tournament will be used as a preparatory event for selection of the national squad for the upcoming Men’s Asia Cup 2022 tournament in UAE, after the event was shifted from Sri Lanka due to political situation in the country, but SLC hold the hosting rights for the tournament and will be doing the same in the Gulf. Kusal Mendis (Team Reds), Charith Asalanka (Team Blues), Dasun Shanaka (Team Greens) and Ashan Priyanjan (Team Greys) will lead their sides respectively in the Invitational tournament. SLC Greys team are the defending Champions from the previous edition held last year in August, where they won the Final against SLC Reds team by 42 runs, after scoring more than 200+ batting first.
