Cricket in the land of the Count?? well, yes, that is indeed the case with the first ever Transylvania Cricket League T20 Tournament all set to be held in Bucharest in Romania from 21st – 24th Jun, 2018 and hosted by Baneasa Cricket Club, Romania at Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground. Count would have been proud; however, the timings of the matches wouldn’t have been to his liking for sure.
The tournament will be played under the ICC T20 rules and it is fully accredited from Federetia Romana de cricket (FRC). So far, two teams are confirmed to participate from Romania and Hungry while invitations have been sent across Europe for more International teams/clubs to take interest in the event and participate.
The organisers are in the process to find sponsors for live score feed and there’s possibility of live score updates on twitter as well. FRC is an associate member with International Cricket Council (ICC) and hence, the amateur tourney is getting played under ICC rules.
So far, Winchester Cricket Club from UAE, Beijing Cricket Club from China, Balkan Nomads CC and Romanian Bears have confirmed their participation in the 6-team tournament, with the remaining two slots to be announced soon.
