Burundi Cricket Federation approved by Ministry of Sports to commence operations

The Ministry of Sports of the Government of Burundi have approved and authorized the formation of the National Cricket board, Burundi Cricket Federation (FCB), to commence operations in the country to conduct domestic tournaments from 13th January 2023. The Ministry of Sports have also approved and authorized three (3) Provincial Associations of Cricket, namely Cricket Rumonge (Association Provinciale de Cricket de Rumonge), Cricket Makamba (Association Provinciale de Cricket de Makamba) and Cricket Buja Mairie (Association Provinciale de Cricket de Bujumbura Mairie) to officially carry on activities on Burundian Territory.

Domestic matches/tournaments have been taking place in the country in the past, with the Regional T20 tournament held in May 2022 being the last recorded event, as far as scores availability is concerned. The National board have already advertised for the posts of National Head Coach, three (3) professional coaches for the Provincial teams and three (3) professional umpires to conduct training sessions for aspiring umpires in the provinces.
