Cricket Association of Cambodia, a non-associate country, had announced their plans for hosting the inaugural edition of Cambodian Premier League T20 in 2020. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was postponed for 2021 and as per the latest update, will be held from November 17th – 29th, 2021.
The tournament organizers have once again opened the overseas players registration for the inaugural edition of the tournament, with many players selected earlier having withdrawn from the event due to COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions. The players can register themselves until 11th July 2021 by contacting the cricket board at this link.
The league will be competed between six teams (Mekong Power, Siem Reap Bosses, Phnom Penh Hawk, Pursat Giants, Kampong Som Dolphins and Battambang Stars) and the selection process for the foreign category process will be conducted once the draft list is ready.
Cambodia national squad have had a busy period in the past 2 years, with tours to Malaysia and Thailand, and also taking part in the domestic T10 tournament held at home. If all goes well, then the players will get the opportunity to play with some of the Associate member country players and also players from full members in the sub-continent region (non-contracted with national/state level boards, most likely).
