Afghanistan U-19 squad, who are currently in New Zealand preparing for the upcoming ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, will play a warm-up fixture against Central Districts selection XI at Nelson Park in Napier on Saturday, 23rd December 2017.
Dilan Raj from Cricket Whanganui said the match was scheduled as a warm-up fixture as Afghanistan prepares for its world cup bid in January. The match will provide much required game time for Afghan boys ahead of the official warm-up fixtures for the World Cup. To see Afghanistan’s warm-up fixtures, click here.
Canada’s U-19 vice-captain, Akash Gill has been named in the CD squad as well. It will be a good exposure for Gill ahead of Canada’s bid for the World Cup as well. He impressed in the Hawke Cup and with Central Districts age group teams last season.
