Coca Cola 2018 Bahrain Premier League T20 kicks-off with Team launch

KHK Sports and Exelon have come together in partnership to announce the launch of the first franchise cricket tournament in Bahrain in early 2018. The tournament will be played in T20 format and the teams will be launched in an official ceremony on 19th Jan 2018 at Bahrain Mall Car Park.

Dance shows, Road show & other promotional activities are planned for the ceremony at Bahrain Mall Car park.

Coca Cola Bahrain Premier League 2018, will comprise of six franchise squads of 13 local cricketers. The organisers recently signed an agreement with F&B giants, Coca Cola, to be the Title sponsor for the T20 event.

The 6 teams slated to take part are The Bahrain Falcons, The Bahrain Knight-Riders, The Bahrain Lions, The Bahrain Rising Super-Giants, The Bahrain Royal Challengers and The Bahrain Warriors.

I believe that The Bahrain Premier League will not only strengthen cricket’s base in the Kingdom, it will also serve to encourage greater local participation in the sport.”, Mohammad Shahid, Chairman of KHK Holdings said in an official statement.

Over 150 players registered for the selection process from which 78 available spots were filled up in the player selection/draft picks held on 9th December at Park Regis Lotus Hotel in Juffair.

The opening ceremony and day one matches of Coca Cola Bahrain Premier League 2018 will take place on 26th January, 2018 with group matches being played out over three consecutive weekends to determine the four qualifiers for the Semi-Finals on 16th February with the Grand Final of the competition scheduled for 23rd February.
