In a major financial boost for Cricket in Isle of Man, Manx cricket clubs will receive a £50,000 cash funding in 2018 from ICC.
Citing improvement in the ICC rankings for Isle of Man’s ICC and growth in the sport in the grass-roots level as reported by ManxRadio, the funding was approved and will be used to install boundary ropes, electronic scoreboards and sight screens among other things, which will be carried out by Durant Cricket of Leicestershire.
£25,000 was spent on pitch and practice improvements in 2017, again provided by ICC. The improvement of ground facilities will provide much required boost to domestic cricket in the country.
A total of seven sites will be visited around the Island for assessments. Isle of Man are scheduled to feature in the ICC Europe qualifiers in Sep 2018, to be held in Netherlands.
