Gauchan to bid adieu to International Cricket post Netherlands series

An International career spanning more than 1 1/2 decades will come to an end as Nepal’s Shakti Gauchan announced his retirement from all International cricket post the conclusion of Nepal’s upcoming tours of UK and Netherlands.

Gauchan, however, will remain active in Nepal’s domestic circuit as of now post his retirement. Gauchan was part of Nepal’s squad when they had played the 3-day ICC Intercontinental Cup in 2004/2005. Gauchan was also an integral part of Nepal’s set-up in their World T20 appearance in 2014 in Bangladesh.

Gauchan rose to prominence with the bat and ball in ICC U19 World Cup in 2004, where his 2 wickets and unbeaten 51 n.o took Nepal U19 to a shock victory over South Africa U19.

His spell of 3/2 in 10 overs with 8 maidens against Malaysia in ICC World Cricket League Division 4 in 2012 remains one of best ever economical spells in all ICC sanctioned International cricket. Gauchan’s 3/36 and his hold-up job against UAE in the Asian Cricket Council Elite Trophy final was also one of his memorable performances for Nepal, which they shared with UAE as the match ended in a tie.

The 34 year old left-arm orthodox has represented Nepal in 4 First-Class, 9 T20I’s and 23 List-A matches.
