Hong Kong edged past Oman in a low scoring thriller by 3 wickets at the Sevens Cricket Stadium in Dubai in the final game of the 3-match series. However, Oman won the series 2-1 based on victories in the first 2 matches.
Hong Kong won the toss and asked Oman to bat and immediately had Oman in trouble at 5/2. Jatinder Singh (31) played some enterprising shots but Aizaz Khan brought back Hong Kong in the driver’s seat again picking 2 wickets in an over to reduce Oman to 39/4 in the 10th over.
Oman middle order line-up failed to get any momentum into the innings and got further reduced to 60/8 and due to some late order hitting from Sufiyan (15) saw them go past 100 but eventually got bowled out for 101.
Nadeem Ahmed and Ehsan Khan picked up 3 wickets apiece for Hong Kong.
Hong Kong lost Anshuman Rath early in the innings without scoring and managed to reach 47/2 at lunch break needing only 55 more runs to win. After the resumption, Waqas Khan (32) and Chris Carter took the score to 68 but Hong Kong saw a mini-collapse which reduced them to 84/7 in the 30th over.
Ehsan Khan (11 n.o) saw off the bowling challenge and took the team to victory to avoid a series whitewash.
