Ex-Queenslander, Joe Dawes has been appointed as the Papua New Guinea National men’s team Head coach for the next 2 years.
Dawes travelled with PNG as an assistant consultant to Dubai in Dec 2017 for PNG’s WCL Championship matches against Scotland. Currently, he is part of the coaching staff for Adelaide Strikers in Australia’s T20 League, Big Bash.
A prominent fast bowler for Queensland in his playing days, his career was shortened due to a leg injury; however, Dawes has been part of Cricket as a coach/consultant for many years now.
Dawes has managed to get Western Australia’s spinner Liam O’Connor to assist PNG bowlers in a short camp where he will be travelling with the Team for their pre-tour of Brisbane before heading out to Zimbabwe for ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
