Afghanistan International spinner Qais Ahmad has been signed up by England’s County Club Kent for the entire duration of 2021 Vitality Blast T20 tournament and two First-Class games in the 2021 County Championships.
Qais has extensive experience in the franchise-based T20 leagues across the globe including stints in Afghanistan Premier League (APL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) and the Lanka Premier League (LPL). Qais made his Test debut against Bangladesh in 2019, and has taken 68 wickets in 12 first-class matches so far in his career at 20.51.
Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said in the press release “We’re delighted to welcome a leg-spinner of Qais Ahmad’s class to Kent as we look to bring some variety to our attack ahead of the Vitality Blast. He will also be available to play in a couple of LV= Insurance County Championship matches for us.”
Qais has already played alongside one of the first XI members in Daniel Bell-Drummond, during their participation in the 2020 edition of Lanka Premier League with Colombo Kings franchise.
