Teams warm-up for Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy with practice games

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be organizing the women’s domestic 50-over competition from Aug 29th – Sep 26th, 2020 and will be named as Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in honor of the country’s World Cup-winning captain. Eight teams will feature in the tournament, with four teams divided into two groups.

Each team will be playing their group opponents twice in the double round-robin group stage format, before the two group winners advance to the final. The North Group consists of Central Sparks, Lightning, Northern Diamonds and North West Thunder, while the South Group will consist of South East Stars, Southern Vipers, Sunrisers and Western Storm. The squads will be made up of players from ECB Women’s County Championship teams from all the divisions.

The tournament provides a great opportunity for Bryce sisters (Kathryn and Sarah) from Scotland and Sterre Kalis from Netherlands to play in a high-profile domestic 50-overs competition. Sarah and Kathryn have played against some of the players in other teams as well as Scotland Women’s team takes part in ECB’s Women’s County Championship’s Division 2 tournament.

The Southern Stars squad played three friendly games against Surrey Stars (two matches) and Western Storm as part of ECB friendly fixtures, while Southern Vipers/South East Stars and Sunrisers/Lightning played warm-up games as part of Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Friendlies.
