Men’s domestic Inter-Provincial Series and Women’s Super Series are back for the 2022 season after going through a change in competition structures in 2021 in Ireland. The Cricket Board had brought upon the changes in 2021 to improve domestic cricket infrastructure and create improved talent pathway programs towards International cricket representation in the coming future, that includes multiple ICC tournaments (World Cup and T20 World Cup) in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The 2021 Men’s Inter-Provincial Series saw Munster Reds becoming the fourth team in the 50-over Cup competition and the team will be back to challenge for the Title this year with a revamped squad. The Women’s Super Series saw increase in the amount of fixtures, the re-introduction of the T20 format, creation of new coaching hubs with increased coaching contact hours and matches played in Northern Ireland to increase exposure and accessibility of the game to fans and aspiring cricketers around Ireland.
