Uganda lose close thriller against Qatar’s President XI

It’s not too often when you see a side lose only half their batting line-up and still come up 13 runs short of a modest total. It’s exactly what transpired as Asian Town Cricket Ground where Qatar’s President XI defeated Uganda by that margin, defending only 130 runs.

Deusdedit Muhamuza did all the hard work to restrict President XI to 130/8 in their 20 overs, picking up 6/28 in his 4 overs. That he picked up 6 out of the 8 wickets to fall for the host team, shows his potential. A big positive for Uganda.

Batting is where Uganda faltered as the top-order got starts but could not accelerate with Qatar spinners bogging them down throughout the innings.

Tamoor Sajjad (2/15), Waleed (2/18) and Mujeeb Rehman (1/17) bowled brilliant spells to tie down the Ugandan batsmen.

Roger Mukasa top-scored for Uganda with 33 runs to his name while Waleed & M Nafees scored 31 runs each for President XI team. Uganda’s tour of Qatar continues with a 50-overs match against Qatar tomorrow at the same venue.
