Vanuatu captain, Andrew Mansale, has signed up for the role of player-cum-coach for Adelaide’s Southern District Cricket Club, Stingrays in Australia.

Mansale will represent Stingrays both as a coach and play in the club’s A grade.

“I went through the Level 3 coaching course last year and I know Southern was looking for a coach, so I thought I would put my name up,” Mansale says.

“I’ve been playing cricket for a long time and I am looking at coaching as my next step.”

“If I could, I’d bring two girls over (from Vanuatu) to help the club’s women’s team. I’d also like to bring another (male) bowler.”

Mansale will be the 2nd player from Vanuatu to play for the Southerners after Josh Rasu played for them in the previous season.

Mansale’s dream is to see Vanuatu play in a World Cup. Vanuatu secured promotion to ICC WCL Division 4 earlier this year along with Jersey Island from Division 5, held in Benoni, South Africa.

“I know our journey is not easy, but we have a group that can cause an upset.”
