St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association (SVGCA), in association with Dream11, have launched the Vincy Premier League (VPL T10) tournament from May 22nd – 30th, 2020. This is the 2nd T10 tournament announced to be starting in May 2020 after Vanuatu Cricket also announced that their Men’s T10 tournament, BetBarter Vanuatu Smash, will commence from May 21st until Jun 13th, 2020.
No spectators will be allowed in the Vincy Premier League and all the matches will be played behind the closed stadium. Live Stream and Scores aggregator for Dream11, FanCode App (click to download), is the official broadcaster for the tournament, while Sportsmax (click to download) and VC3 are the local broadcasters.
Total of 6 Teams will compete in the tournament, which will see 30 T10 matches being played at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, St. Vincent, and will be streamed live. The six franchises drafted seventy-two players in the player draft, including a Windies marquee player. Kesrick Williams, Sunil Ambris, Obey McCoy, Keron Cottoy, Lindon James and Desron Maloney are the marquee players for each of the franchise teams in the competition.
The tournament will provide the youngsters to ply their skills in the T10 level, and notable performances can get them gigs at the national and international T20 or T10 leagues overseas in the future. For players like Hyron Shallow and Lindon James, who play for Flow Rivals club and Rickford Walkar and Salvan Browne from Police Two club in the SVG domestic leagues, it will be an opportunity to showcase their batting skills on live streaming platform. The four players were the top run-scorer’s in the 2020 Premier Division (2-day competition) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Asif Hooper from Flow Radcliffe club was the top wicket-taker in the Premier Division by miles, while Hyron Shallow was 2nd in the list, making him a top-notch all-rounder to watch out for in the T10 league. The likes of Lindon James, Atticus Browne, Cody Horne, Ronald Scott, Asif Hooper, Rasheed Fredericks and Olanzo Bellingy were the top performers in the 2019 T20 tournament (NLA Neil Williams T20) in the region.
