A big opportunity beckons for Bostwana Cricket, as they will be hosting the Southern African sub-regional qualifiers for ICC World T20 in Oct 2018. Botswana will be joined by 5 other countries in the region to claim 2 qualification spots in the main Africa regional qualifiers, most likely to be held in 2019.

Botswana will play host to teams from Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho & Malawi in the 6-nation tournament in the sub-regional qualifiers. It was announced few weeks earlier that Rwanda will be hosting the Eastern African sub-regional’s where Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda would compete for top 2 spots in the main African regional qualifiers.
4 teams each from Western African, Eastern African & 6 teams from Southern African regions will be competing in the sub-regional qualifiers. Top 2 teams from each sub-regional’s will advance to the main African regional Qualifiers from which the top 2 will qualify for Global Qualifiers for ICC World T20 to be held in Australia in 2020.
A long journey for all the teams involved to get a spot in the main World T20 line-up and the journey begins shortly for them in their endeavour.
