Canada draw first blood in ICC WCL Division 2 II Brush aside Oman challenge with ease

Canada have started their campaign in ICC WCL Division 2 in Namibia in some style, brushing past Oman with relative ease to register their first crucial win in the group match stages.

After the bowlers put a complete choke-hold over Oman dismissing them for only 106 in the 28th over, their batsmen took even lesser time, scoring 108/2 in only the 17th over, thus boosting their net run-rate by a big margin.

Aqib Ilyas (46 off 32) started with a flurry with wickets falling around him. He went for few shots too many and perished eventually with Oman stranded at 60/5 in the 14th over. Rest of the batting line-up could not muster up more runs as Nikhil Dutta (3/11), Satsimranjit Dhindsa (2/19), Dillon Heyliger (2/30) & Cecil Pervez (2/31) capped off a brilliant display of bowling by the Canadian attack.

Ruvindu Gunasekara (46 off 48) & Nitish Kumar (53 n.o off 62) put out any threat by Oman bowlers after losing the early wicket of Bhavidu Adhihetty without scoring. Zeeshan Maqsood took out Gunasekara for the only other wicket to fall for Canada as Kumar and Dhanuka Pathirana took them over the victory line.
