Cricket Canada will be mighty pleased with the performances of their development squad, that took part in the West Indies (Windies) Super50 tournament in Oct 2019. Although the team consisted of seniors squad members like Nitish Kumar and Harsh Thaker, most of the remaining squad got to experience top-level domestic List-A competition during the Super50 tournament, in which they triumphed over the defending champions, Combined Colleges and Campuses Marooners in both their group stage matches.

Canada were placed in Group A of the West Indies Super50 Cup and played a double round robin series of matches in St Kitts against Barbados Pride, Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners, Leeward Islands Hurricanes and Jamaica Scorpions. The likes of Harsh Thaker, Rayyan Pathan, Kaleem Sana, Shahid Ahmadzai and Kanwar Mann put up impressive performances during the tournament and will push for places in the senior squad, once Canada gets ready for the 2nd round of ICC CWC Challenge League Group A tournament in 2020 in Malaysia.

Most of the senior squad members took a break as the Super50 tournament started very closely after Canada finished their campaign at ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in UAE. Nicholas Kirton, who made his debut for Canada in the Qualifiers, however, represented Barbados in the Super50 event.
