China Women crowned Champions of 2019 Women’s East Asia Cup

China Women have regained the Women’s East Asia Cup for the 2nd time after winning the 2015 edition, as they defeated Hong Kong Women in the final of the tournament by 14 runs at Incheon’s Yeonhui Cricket Ground in South Korea. Japan Women finished 3rd in the event after winning the play-off match against the host’s, Korea Women.

The single round-robin group stage saw China Women, Hong Kong Women and Japan Women register three wins out of their four games, with China and Hong Kong edging past Japan on net run-rate to qualify for the final. Korea Women had a disappointing campaign in the group stages, unable to register a win to their name.

Japan’s Shizuka Miyaji (95 runs in 4 innings), China’s Sun Mengyao (84 runs in 4 innings) and Hong Kong’s Mariko Hill (77 runs in 4 innings) were the top three run-scorer’s in the tournament, while Hong Kong’s Ka Man Chan & Ka Ying Chan, along with Korea’s Baek Mina were the top three wicket-taker’s in the tournament with 8 wickets each to their names. Ka Ying Chan also claimed the tournament’s only hat-trick against Hong Kong Women in the group stage match.
