Cricket Germany have announced that they will be hosting Men’s teams from Austria and Sweden for a T20I Tri-series at their high performance center at Krefeld from June 09th – 12th, 2022. These will be the first games for the German national squad after their tour of Oman in February 2022 for Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier A event.
All the teams will play each other in a double round-robin group stage format, following which the top two teams will contest the final of the tournament. With 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe sub-regional qualifiers slated to take place in June/July 2022 in Finland and Belgium, the tournament will provide much needed game-time for Austria and Sweden.
Austrian team is coming off a fresh home series win over Hungary, while Sweden team will be playing under the new Head Coach Qasim Ali for the first time and will be eager to impress in the series ahead of the qualifiers. Germany team players were part of the National Elite League series held recently, and the likes of Talha Khan, Sajid Liaqat, Rasul Ahmadi, Hamid Wardak, Abdul Samad and Sri Vishnu Bharathi were among the top performers and will look to continue the same at the same venue for the Tri-series.
