The 2022 Topklasse season has commenced in Netherlands, with KNCB (Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond) starting the Topklasse/Hoofdklasse leagues in the traditional 50-overs format cricket. KNCB are also planning to stage the Topklasse/Hoofdklasse T20 competition, complementing the one-day leagues.
The 12-team Topklasse season will feature teams in two groups of six (6) each in the first phase of the competition, featuring teams from Volharding RAP Amstels (VRA), Excelsior’20, HBS cricket, Kampong Utrecht, Amsterdamsche Cricket Club (ACC), Rotterdamse Cricket & Voetbal Vereniging Volharding Olympia Combinatie (VOC), Voorburg Cricket Club (VCC), Haagse Cricket Club (HCC), Sparta Cricket 1888 Club, Dosti United Cricket Club, Salland Cricket Club and Punjab Cricket Club. With KNCB hosting Men’s teams from England, West Indies and Pakistan in their CWC Super League series from June – August 2022, there will be opportunities for domestic players to impress the national selectors for places in the national squad. The likes of Teja Nidamanuru, Bas de Leede, Aryan Dutt, Clayton Floyd, Vikram Singh and other youngsters in the current dutch squad have all progressed through the 50-overs Topklasse competition in the past couple of editions.
The play-off stage of the Topklasse season will commence from 24th July 2022, with the Final scheduled to take place on 10th September. The quarterfinals for the Topklasse T20 competition will take place on 23rd July 2022, with the Finals day scheduled to take place a week later.
