Cricket Scotland announce National trials series with expanded group for T20 World Cup

Scotland Men’s squad head coach Shane Burger has announced an expanded list of 40 players, of which 38 will be in contention for the national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Oman and UAE 17th October to 14th November 2021. Scotland are grouped alongside Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and Oman in Round One of the World Cup, with the top two teams qualifying for the Super 12s stage.

The chosen players will compete in the National trials series in August 2021, in which a number of players currently playing county cricket in England are included, before the World Cup bound squad is announced at the end of the month. Scotland squad will also compete along with PNG and Oman in the CWC League 2 ODI tri-series round in September 2021 before the T20 World Cup.

Somerset’s Josh Davey, Glamorgan’s Ruaidhri Smith, Gloucestershire’s George Scott and Scott Steel of Leicestershire are part of the 40-member group, while 2 players who are not yet eligible to represent Scotland at the International level (Brad Currie and Brandon McMullen) are also part of the group.
