Czarsportz analysis and top 5 Nepal players of Day 5 action from RUSLAN DPL2

Four teams batted on Day 5 of action from RUSLAN Dhangadhi Premier League 2 and barring the team performance (only the batting part) from Biratnagar Kings, all the other three teams depended on 1/2 Individual performances to post sub-par 120-140 totals on board.

Kathamandu Goldens survived the day thanks to an innings of substance from their captain, Gyanendra Malla (which never looked like coming in the past 4-6 months). Shuvankar Urao and Krishna Karki did their best in restricting Kathmandu to below 140 but it went in vain as CYC Attariya made a complete mess of their chase.

Wickets falling consistently on both sides of the track for CYC Attariya proved costly as they played out their full quota of 20 overs, lost 8 wickets, but still fell short by 11 runs. The scorecard will show that the match was very competitive throughout but after CYC lost the wicket of their talisman batsman, Gaurav Chitkara, the momentum in the chase began to peg back and never came back on track. Kathmandu Goldens hence registering their 3rd win in the tournament and stay well on track for the Finals of the tourney.

Two young Nepal players gave the perfect start to Biratnagar Kings in the afternoon game against Rupandehi Challengers. Rupandehi bowling attack simply fell short in front of Anil Sah and Dilip Nath, before Hong Kong’s captain Babar Hayat took over the stage and played a smashing knock of 58 runs at a strike rate of 165 and a late burst from Paras Khadka with a 12-delivery innings with a strike rate of 183 took Biratnagar Kings to 181/4 in their 20 overs. Oman’s Sufyaan Mehmood saved some grace for the bowling side by picking up couple of wickets but much more was required from Rupandehi, who have been struggling throughout the competition so far in both batting and bowling departments.

Pradeep Singh Airee seems to be coming into his own as he again started aggressively and scored his 2nd half-century of the tournament while watching his partners give away their wickets at the other end. That made Airee take some time in the later part of his innings but when it mattered the most for him to continue, he too fell under the burden of increasing asking-rate.

Rupandehi Challengers batsmen have struggled to get going in the tournament so far and once again, there was not much of a challenge posted in front of Biratnagar after Airee got out as they surrendered pretty much easily to lose the match by 42 runs. Kings opened their account in the points table and will be keen to make much more headwinds towards the top of the log.
