All matches will be played in the T20 format. Malaysia Women and Thailand Women took part in the ASEAN Women’s T20 Cup earlier this year and the Asia Cup gives them further opportunities to grow the Women’s game in the region.
Chanida Sutthiruang and Ratanaporn Padunglerd will be expected to provide good start with the ball for Thailand Women with support from Wongpaka Leingprasert, Nattaya Boochatham and Sornnarin Tippoch. Nathakan Chantham along with Boochatham and Tippoch will be expected to be the mainstay of Thailand’s batting line-up. While for Malaysia, much will depend on their captain, Winifred Duraisingam, but they also have few other prospects in Nur Nadihirah and Nur Syazwina in the bowling ranks.
Malaysia’s batting has always been a bother for the team with not much coming in terms of partnerships at the top of the order or in the middle-order. The last time both these teams met in the ASEAN Women’s T20 Cup, Thailand easily defended their total of 156 by bowling out Malaysia for only 48 runs.
