Czech Cricket announce men’s squad for 2021 International events

Czech Republic Cricket have announced the senior men’s squad of 28 players for the 2021 International events. The Board will select the final squad of 15-16 players from the group for ICC qualification events and other tournaments (subject to COVID-19 pandemic situation).

Sudesh Wickramasekara and Sumit Pokhriyal have been named as the squad’s Captain and Vice-Captain respectively. Czech men’s squad will be travelling to Belgium to take part in the sub-regional qualifiers, where they will face Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Isle of Man, Portugal, Romania and Serbia from 05th – 10th July 2021, from which the top team will qualify for Europe regional finals in Spain.

Czech Cricket are also planning to host the Central Europe Cup in 2021 from May 20th – 23rd. The last edition was held in 2019, with Poland having won the tournament on the most occasions (three times), while the Czech Republic (twice) and Switzerland (once) have also won the title. The 2020 edition was scheduled to take place in September, but was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The cricket board has also announced a 15-member men’s development squad, made up of players who are currently part of the Czech domestic circuit and are eligible to represent Czechia in International events, while there are also places for players who will fulfill the eligibility criteria in the near future.

The development squad will be known as “Czech Eagles” and the coaching set-up will comprise of Rohit Deshmoyni, Jan Hoffman and Fany Hudecek.
