Dual centuries from Ihsanullah & Rahmat propel Afghanistan on day 1 of I-Cup match against UAE

Dual centuries from Ihsanullah & Rahmat propelled Afghanistan to a strong position at the end of day 1 of their ICC Intercontinental Cup match against UAE at Abu Dhabi.

Ihsanullah (124 off 242) and Rahmat Shah (103 off 191) shared a 197 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket after the early loss of Javed Ahmadi. Both batsmen played with caution and did not let UAE have any advantage after being put into bat first on a cold morning.

UAE bowlers toiled hard for the better part of the day’s play as they only managed to pick up 3 wickets after bowling 96 overs in the day. Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai (67 n.o off 95) continued his good form in the first-class competitions and will be looking forward to score big tomorrow. Giving him company at the end of the day’s play was Nasir Jamal (8 n.o off 38).

Mohammad Naveed (2/52) was the most successful bowlers for UAE with Ahmed Raza picking up the only other wicket to fall.
