Dubai Destroyers were crowned the inaugural champions for the 2017 Arabian Cricket Carnival as they beat Emirates Hurricane by 48 runs in the final.

Dubai Destroyers first defeated Oman Avengers in the semi-final played earlier in the day and then won their 2nd match of the day in the final.

Batting first, Dubai team made 169/5 in their 20 overs with a good start provided by J Kolsawala (62 off 40) & Hong Kong national, Haseeb Amjad (38 off 48). Sufyan Mehmood (25 off 15) & Usman Saeed (38 n.o off 13) propelled the score beyond 160+. Abdullah Azhar picked up 3/28 in a good bowling effort while others did not create much impact with the ball.

Emirates Hurricane were in the match till Kapil Yadav (46 off 47) & Abdullah Azhar (28 off 16) were at the crease but following their dismissals, the batting line-up collapsed against the increasing asking rate and finished with only 121/9 on board from their 20 overs. Sufyan Mehmood picked up 2/33 but it was Sunil Khatri’s 3/11 from 4 overs which rattled the hurricane innings.
